Carers Centre Newcastle can assist you to access a range of training opportunities including Caring with Confidence, the national training programme for carers.

In addition, we will assess your individual needs to identify if you would benefit from other training opportunities.

Below you will find a list of the types of training we regularly offer:

Confidence Building

This is a relaxed and fun session that will help carers to think about ways to build up their confidence, and give carers tips on being more assertive.

‘Carers in the know’

Six information sessions for carers about what support services are available to carers and hot to access them, how to look after yourself and your health, communicating with professionals, taking part in local activities and planning ahead.

‘What on Earth are Personal Budgets?’

Personal Budgets is the way in which social care is organised for people and can sometimes also be referred to as ‘Self Directed Support’. It’s about people having more control over what care they receive and how it is provided. This course helps carers to understand what it means for them and the person they care for.

This short video produced by the Carers Trust helps to explain the benefits of the course:

Introduction to Moving and Handling

A basic introduction class specifically for carers.

First Aid for Carers

A basic first aid course for carers.
